Dhanush absolutely hated my performance: Nayanthara on Filmfare 2016 stage

Nayanthara, in an open letter to Dhanush, spoke about him expressing displeasure about Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’s success at Filmfare 2016 event. While receiving the Best Actress award for Naanum Rowdy Dhaan at the award show, the actor said that “Dhanush absolutely hated her performance in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan” on stage and apologised to him. After her scathing open letter on November 16, a throwback clip of Nayanthara’s speech is now going viral on social media.
Nayanthara received the Best Actress award for Naanum Rowdy Dhaan from veteran actor Khushbu Sundar at the 2016 award show. While addressing the crowd, she said, “Thank you Filmfare for the most prestigious black lady. Like everyone else, I have a long list of thank yous, but I will keep it short. First of all, thank you to all my fans for being supportive through my lows and highs. They’ve always believed in me. Thank you Vijay Sethupathi Sir, the entire cast and crew, cameraman George and Sreekar sir.”

In another clip, she directly addressed Dhanush, who produced Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (NRD), directed by her now-husband Vignesh Shivan. “Thank you Dhanush for initiating NRD and I have to say I am sorry also. Dhanush absolutely hated my performance in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. Sorry Dhanush for disappointing you with my performance. I’ll probably make it better next time,” she said on stage.

On November 16, Nayanthara slammed Dhanush in an open letter for sending her a legal notice and demanding Rs 10 crore for using certain clips of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her upcoming Netflix documentary.
In her three-page note, she wrote, “I have not forgotten all the horrible things that you said about the film that was one of your biggest hits as a producer and a film that is loved by all even today. The words you said pre-release have left some unhealable scars to us already. I learnt through film circles that your ego was supremely hurt after the film became a blockbuster. Your displeasure over its success was perceptible even to common man through award fuctions connected with this film (Filmfare 2016) (sic).”
At the 63rd Filmfare, held in 2016, Dhanush won the Best Film award as a producer for Kaakaa Muttai. In his speech, he said, “Good evening everybody. My sincere thanks to Filmfare. This award belongs to Manikandan, the director of Kaaka Muttai. I am very thankful to him. My production is proud to have produced a film like Kaaka Muttai. Very few films can make you proud, This is one of that. And also this award belongs to Aishwarya Rajesh, who did an incomparable performance in this film – international performance in this film. She deserves many more award and also those two little boys, the two little gems who won millions and millions of hearts across the world. This film is really really special to me and my production. And this award is really really encouraging me to produce more such quality films which can also strike gold at the box office.”
